David A. Arnold, a comedian best known for hosting two Netflix comedy specials, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 54.
The stand-up comedian passed away “from natural causes” at his home, according to his family. He was the showrunner of Nickelodeon’s “That Girl Lay Lay” and a producer on the revival of “Fuller House.”
He had only performed three times thus far during his four-month nationwide comedy tour called “Pace Ya Self.”
We confirm the tragic death of David A.Arnold, our husband, father, brother, and friend, with profound regret, his family told the LA Times.
David A.Arnold died away quietly today in his home, and the cause of death has been determined by the doctors to be natural causes.”
The statement added, “Please keep our family in prayer and respect our privacy at this time as we are all surprised and grieved by this loss.”
David A.Arnold spoke to Jalen Rose for his weekly column in The Post only one week before he passed away about his illustrious comedic career and recalled how his first attempt at an open mic night failed. But after serving in the Navy for a while, he was motivated by D.L. years later. Hughley to try again.
He told Rose, “And the next thing you know, I was a comedian.” Then I understood: You’ve got to bomb. You have to accept it head-on and still want to accomplish it.

Ohio native Arnold began writing professionally at the Montreal Comedy Festival and later had an appearance on “Jamie Foxx Presents Laffapalooza.”
After becoming well-known, Arnold was able to acquire two Netflix stand-up specials, the first of which was released in 2019 and was titled “David A. Arnold: Fat Ballerina.”
It Ain’t For The Weak, his second Netflix special, was produced by Kevin Hart and debuted in July of this year.
The popular Nickelodeon program “That Girl Lay Lay,” which was created and executive produced by Arnold, is another notable accomplishment.
Along with “Fuller House,” “Meet The Browns,” and “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne,” he also wrote and produced those shows.
His wife Julie Harkness and their two kids, Anna-Grace and Ashlyn, are still alive.
Arnold uploaded a clip of his comedic sketch to Instagram just hours before his sad demise.
I’ll never forget the day my oldest chose to send my wife or me to the nursing home, he wrote in the description of the photo.
Following the news of his passing, both celebrities and fans have been paying respect to the comic on social media.
