A Philadelphia drag queen’s family received an outpouring of support after she passed away on stage during a performance.
Local media said Valencia Prime, who was only 25 years old but was already a mainstay on the Philadelphia drag scene, passed out on stage on September 12.
Prime referred to herself as “Philadelphia’s Plus Size Dancing Diva” and identified as a transgender woman. When the tragedy happened, she was headlining her own live presentation, “Prime Time,” at the Tabu nightclub in Center City.
We grieve the death of a very bright and rising star in the performing arts community and a person who was constantly positive and upbeat, the theatre wrote on Instagram. “We bid Valencia Prime farewell, but we won’t forget the brightness you brought to the stage soon.”
According to 6ABC, the Philadelphia medical examiner determined that Prime’s death was due to heart illness and categorized the cause as natural causes.
She was a “bright and lovely star, (her) selflessness and kindness had been felt from all who came into contact with her,” a friend of Prime wrote on Facebook. I lament the loss the homosexual community has endured as well as the passing of my friend. She had a significant impact.
The performer’s mother is expected to attend the free memorial performance on Monday, Tabu said on Twitter. More than $11,000 has been gathered for Valencia’s family via a GoFundMe page.

On Monday night, a memorial performance is arranged at the location.
They will gladly accept gifts intended for the family.
