The CPD no longer employs Jay Halstead. On Wednesday night, Jesse Lee Soffer made an appearance in his last episode of the NBC drama “Chicago P.D.”
After avoiding Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) for another hour, Jay suddenly understood that he had changed, and not for the better.
Jay once more circumvented the law to catch the perpetrators in a case involving preserving the reputation of an Army veteran who had helped commit a crime. For the sake of the man’s family and reputation, he chose not to report the vet, who ultimately lost her life protecting another woman. However, Jay made the decision to leave Intelligence after realizing that he had breached the law once more and stabbed a guy in the process.
He revealed to Hailey that he had joined an Army unit that hunted down Cartel soldiers and that they were sending him to Bolivia for eight weeks in the last seconds of the episode. He promised her they would overcome it and that she is the love of his life.
Voight’s (Jason Beghe) came to say goodbye at the airport and made him an offer for any position he wanted to stay in. In response, Jay said that the issue was that he wanted to be Voight. He said to his former supervisor, “It’s like you’ve always told me: I’m not, and I shouldn’t try. They shook hands after that, and Jay departed Chicago.
the announcement in August that Soffer will end his 10-season run on the Dick Wolf drama. Everyone who works on the show has put their heart and soul into making this hour-long drama every week. Det. Jay Halstead was a role I will always be proud of, he declared in a statement at the time.
Gwen Sigan, the show’s creator, gave a hint about how the departure might affect Upton, who wed Halstead in Season 8.

It’s been a problem, but I’m really proud of how we handled it because, in my opinion, we gave Upton a really intriguing story this season about how she handles this. She is extremely devoted to him and emotionally bonded with him. They are partners in their job, which is a pressure cooker, in addition to being married. Since we portray it on the show, their lives are constantly in danger, she said last month, according to Variety. You become quite exposed and raw when you suddenly lose that second half of who you are.
Upton, as we all know, is a powerful woman who is also very guarded, prefers to keep her emotions under control, and enjoys being able to cope with situations. She is placed in an intriguing situation as a result, and the outcome is clearly seen. That was a lot of fun to write, and Tracy will probably play something Tracy will find fascinating. She has been outstanding.
Since the NBC series’ premiere in 2014, Soffer has played Halstead, and she has been in every episode of “Chicago Med” and “Chicago Fire” as well.
