Emmy-winning co-star of ‘The Rockford Files’ Stuart Margolin passes away at 82

Washington (US): Stuart Margolin, an actor and two-time Emmy winner best remembered for playing Evelyn “Angel” Martin on “The Rockford Files,” died on Monday at the age of 82 from natural causes in Staunton.

His family members announced his passing to the US-based news organisation Variety.

Margolin also appeared in the films Days of Heaven and S.O.B., as well as MAS*H,

The Fall Guy, Cannon, Hill Street Blues, and 30 Rock, according to Variety.

Early in the 1960s, Margolin made his acting debut as a guest star on black-and-white television programmes like “The Gertrude Berg Show” and “Ensign O’Toole.” He even directed an episode of “Love, American Style” in 1973 before obtaining a recurring role there. He then had sporadic cameos on shows including “Bewitched,” “That Girl,” “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” and “The Partridge Family.”

On NBC’s “Nichols” in 1971, the rising star, however, received his big break when James Garner cast him beside him in a recurring role as sidekick Deputy Mitchell.

He performed a similar role in a number of “Rockford Files” TV movies in the 1990s.

The multi-hyphenate also directed a number of television programmes, including two episodes of “Wonder Woman” from 1977 and three episodes of “Intelligence” from the early 2000s.

Margolin’s most recent projects are “What the Night Can Do,” in which he co-wrote the script and starred with her stepson Christopher Martini, and “Home,” an earlier this year released short film in which he voiced and appeared. (ANI)
